One of the most asked questions at networking events are "How are you doing?" or "How is
business?" Do you respond with the one-word answer: "busy"?
Many people believe that being busy is a badge of honor and feel as if it states a level of success. But, could that response mean that you are missing out on the opportunity for new business? After all, you would never know if the person you are answering is ready to do business with you or possibly has a referral.
I recommend a strategic approach to your response. Be prepared. Briefly share a new project that you've started or a specific success of your company. It will build interest and attract business instead of leaving someone feeling that you are "too" busy.
